The Peñín Guide, the reference Spanish wines Guide, awarded one more year, high scores to wines from DO Montsant. In that 2014 edition, the guide begins its analysis of Montsant noting that "today is this appellation of origin the one which is undergoing the most qualitative improvement in Catalonia".
In this issue, 78 close to 190 wines presented have scored 90 points or more, values that define Fine Wines, among them, we have:
– "2 Pájaros 2011" 100% Carignan 93p
– "Cabrida Calissa 2010" 100% Grenache 93p
– "Flor de Primavera, Peraj Ha'abib 2011" kosher. 93p
Also, we have other wines that have exceeded 90 points, including:
– "Costers del Gravet 2011" 91p
– "Vall del Calàs 2011" 90p
– "Mas Tortó 2011" 91p
In addition, we consider many others scores above 85 points for wines qualified as Very Good.
According to the guide, Montsant wines have "qualities to compete with the largest national wine scene." It also highlights the vintage 2010, "able to show the personality and the true power of Grenache and Carignan." In the 2011, we can find "both fresh and ripe wines" and harvest 2012, "is more ripe and warm".
From DO Montsant, they make a very positive assessment of the results.
