Under the name “Unknown Spain”, Marmite, the oldest Swiss gourmet magazine, publishes several articles on Spanish food culture, prepared by a team after traveling and exploring various areas. This fifth article is about: southern Catalonia.
With the collaboration of ICEX in the “Foods & Wines from Spain” program, the Celler de Capçanes has been the protagonist and chosen to represent the wine world in the Priorat region and within the Montsant Designation of Origin.
Celler de Capçanes has won recognition especially for its exquisite treatment with the native Garnatxa variety:
- “La Nit de les Garnatxes” collection of 4 single variety wines of 100% Grenache, from different terroirs or soils (Sand, Clay, Limestone, Slate), with well differentiated profiles, from more seductive and fruity to a more mineral, direct and structured profile.
- “Cabrida“ recognized as the Best Catalan Wine of the year 2022 by the Vinari Awards, it is one of the greatest and most elegant expressions of the old Garnatxa (over a hundred years old), from the territory. Celler de Capçanes was one of the first wineries to pioneer on producing a monovarietal of old Grenache.
