VAdeVi, the wine magazine del Món.cat interviews Vanessa Díaz, national sales representative of Celler de Capçanes, one year after being awarded multiple times in the Vinari awards, and as the grand winners of the Best Wine of Catalonia award, for their Cabrida 2020.
“Vinari Awards have shown another side of the Capçanes winery”
“The Cabrida 2020 from the Capçanes winery was crowned as the best wine in Catalonia at the Vinari Awards 2022. The competition thus positioned a cooperative wine, a Montsant Grenache and the know-how of farmers and winegrowers for decades in a deeply wine-growing environment that has a long tradition within the historical context of Catalan wine.
Díaz breaks a spear in favor of cooperatives. “We must stop thinking that they are outdated models; it is another form of society in which the owners are partly the winegrowers”, he will say. He insists on the fact that this system allows you to pay for their work to “your own people” and generate well-being in your home. “Working collaboratively, we all contribute what we know how to do best and the result is a sustainable ecosystem capable of generating wealth and future opportunities”
