“Celler de Capçanes is a cooperative to follow”

Ferran Centelles has included our Cabrida in the Wine Guide that Spanish TAPAS magazine releases every year under the heading “365 wines to toast all year round”. “I have chosen it because it is the best wine from the best cooperative in Catalonia,” he states in this yearbook.

The Tapas Wine Guide includes a selection of wineries and wines by renowned Sommeliers and MW such as Ferran Centelles. Centelles was the sommelier at the world-renowned El Bulli for thirteen years until its closure. Being most probably the best reknown Sommelier in Spain today, he has build a strong international reputation and is contributor to Jancis Robinson and Decanter, among many others. In this Wine Guide, Centelles has been contributor for the section dedicated to wineries and wines of Catalunya.

The prestigious and multifaceted Catalan sommelier highlights the work carried out at Celler Capçanes and our commitment to quality: “Celler de Capçanes is a cooperative to follow, since they organise the members’ vineyards at different levels of quality and potential to achieve great wines in all the quality segments. Numerous recent awards recognise its fabulous positioning”.

As such, Centelles singles out our iconic wine: “Cabrida comes from very old red Garnacha vines in the D.O. Montsant. The nose is expressive, with floral notes and, on the palate, the ripe red fruits add great flavour. Together with soft tannins and very well-integrated wood, Cabrida was recognised as the Best Wine of Catalonia at the Vinari 2022 awards”.
