The Master of Wine singles out Cabrida 2022 as “one of the best wines in the region” in his Montsant Report 2024.
Peraj Ha’abib 2022 is recalled a “reminiscent of the first wave of great Priorat wines”.
Renowned Master of Wine Pedro Ballesteros has highlighted the quality and consistency of our wines in his 2024 Report on the Montsant region. As part of his Spain Report, Ballesteros reflects on the idiosyncrasies of the wines of Montsant and outlines the historic role of the cooperatives in the region. “Their share in total production is quite high. They have been the instrument to keep this region alive for many difficult decades and now release good benchmarks, like the Cabrida by Celler de Capçanes. Very importantly, they hold great old vineyards“, he singles out. Cabrida outstands in the report as one of the best wines in the region. Acknowledged with 95 points, Cabrida aligns within the six Top rated wines of the Montsant region after a complete blind tasting of wines from “the top estates“.
“Probably the best Cabrida to date, this shows great finesse on both nose and palate. Very well defined, with redcurrant fruit and a joyful raspberry note. Oak is deftly integrated into the wine, being unobtrusive for a round and delicate mouthfeel. Deep and gentle, possibly a little bit warm, with a parsimonious finish. One of the best wines in the region. I hope it will get better with age but see no need not to drink this now”.
Peraj Ha’abib 2022 follows with 92 points as “a wine that is reminiscent of the first wave of great Priorat wines, this is powerful, rich, intense, vibrant and warm. Full-bodied, with lots of everything: red fruit, violet, vanilla, toasted nuts. Quite excessive, but very clean and well made. One to drink slowly”.
Ballesteros reccomends “trying the best Montsant wines now, before they become icons. I strongly believe that several parts of this region are soon bound to become as exclusive as Priorat and for very good reason”.
