Decanter ratings confirm Celler de Capçanes’ international acknowledgement

Celler de Capçanes has outstanded again in Decanter, the world’s largest and most influential wine competition. The wines we presented to be blind tasted and evaluated by a jury of international experts have received excellent mentions. Furthermore, the ratings obtained add to those given up to now by other contests and Masters of wine. As such, Celler de Capçanes‘ wines keep a consistent place in the range of the 90 points in all wine challenges.

‘Picture yourself in the biggest wine shelf of the world, and next to you there are the best wine experts, holding your hand and helping you to make the best decision possible,’ described wine consultant and judge Agnes Csiba Herczeg, encapsulating the significance of Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) results. The wines we have presented to taste and the ratings obtained are:

Mas Tortó 2022: Decanter 92 points

A “Perfumed and intense nose of savoury black plums and blueberry pie with creamy mint ice cream. Big and bold, ripe tannins”. Mas Tortó is a blend of selected Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and red Grenache from low yield vines. Limited production to 5,000 bottles. Mas Tortó belongs to our range of Unique Wines.

Els Pájaros 2021: Decanter 91 points

Our 100% Carignan from old vines is described to have “Plenty jammy dark fruit, plum compote, prune, liquorice and vanilla. Generous style, with ripe tannins, hints of mineral character“. Els Pájaros (“The Birds”) has a limited production to 4,000 bottles.

Costers del Gravet 2021: Decanter 91 points

From our Single-vineyard Selection, Costers del Gravet is by Decanter a “floral and intense with notes of raspberry, graphite, damson plum, and liquorice. Fresh and vibrant with juicy tannins”. This wine is a blend of Carignan (40%) and Grenache (35%) from old vines with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Peraj Ha’abib 2022: Decanter 90 points

Our iconic kosher certified wine (Lo mevushal and Le Pessaj) brings to taste “ripe and jammy notes of strawberry, black cherry, cinnamon and nutmeg. Soft texture and medium body, with a smoky finish“. Peraj Ha’abib (Spring Flower) is a selected blend of Carignan (35%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%) and red Grenache (30%) from very old and low-yield vines.

Mas Donis Old Vines 2022: Decanter 89 points

For Decanter’s panel of tasting Mas Donís Old Vines is “fragrant, (showing) raspberry and cinnamon aromas with touches of vanilla. Really rich and ripe on the palate”. As it name indicates, this wine is a blend from old vines’ Grenache (65%), Syrah (20%) and Carignan (15%). Fruitful, medium bodied and slightly oak aged.
