Cherry color with violet reflects. Intense aromas of red fruits. On the mouth is quite voluptuous and persistent due to the “crianza” on the lees.

The ideal candidate for almost every dish. Being it a considerable structured young red, it is a beautiful companion to saulted mushrooms, pasta, oven pizza, rice and white meat.

Vinous by Antonio Galloni 2024:

  • Mas Picosa 2023: 91 points. “Aged eight months on the lees, this purple-hued wine presents a fruit-forward nose with plum and blackberry aromas, complemented by dried flowers and black pepper. Dry and rich, it features a bold, creamy mouthfeel with a lasting note of waffle. It’s a savory red with a cheerful core”.

WineSpectator 2024:

  • Mas Picosa 2022: 90 points. “There’s a briary edge of wild herbs and woodsy spices accenting the generous range of ripe red currant, cherry and mulberry fruit flavors on display in this fresh, focused red. Tarry smoke and iron notes underscore the fruit profile, while crisp tannins trim the finish”.

James Suckling tasting 2018:

  • Mas Picosa de Flor en Flor 2017:  93p. Very dark nose with tons of black cherries and plums plus a hint of bitter chocolate, but a freshness that pulls you into the powerful and quite concentrated palate, where the generous, soft tannins are beautifully integrated. Long, powdery finish. Delicious now, but should hold through at least 2024.

  • 2011 Celler de Capçanes, Mas Picosa de Flor en Flor, D.O. Montsant: (70% garnacha and 30% syrah, aged for six months in stainless steel):  Bright purple.  Assertive aromas of candied dark berries and spicecake, with a zesty mineral topnote.  Juicy, penetrating blackberry and bitter cherry flavors show very good depth and pick up a peppery element with air.  Finishes tangy and long, with resonating spiciness and a hint of candied flowers. 90points
